Hillary really showed some courage meeting with “black matters” representatives. It was obvious the candidate was nervous and on guard. She asked them questions, too. It was obvious their question and answers were on different levels. I thought that Hillary was very stiff. But, they were talking over each others head. The Black Matters delegation wanted change right now and Hillary gave a politician’s answers. I think I have ridden this horse enough.
I am going to say this about the 14th amendment: The writers of the amendment wanted to make sure liberated slaves were treated as citizens of the United States, er and have standing before the federal court system and that their children were citizens, also.
They could not have imagined what the havoc the 14th amendment with its’ birth right clause. There is a thriving business of pregnant women coming to the States to give birth here and having obtained a U.S. passport for the child they go home. The next thing is coming to States undocumented and over staying a visa. Their children born here might be a reason they can get documents and stay here legally, because their children born here are automatically citizens.
I don’t have a solution for the problem. How we address these problems will, however, define who we are going forward in the 21st century.
